Sir Richard Branson's Moroccan retreat, Asni The Kasbah Tamadot is a magical walled castle-like structure set on the side of the rolling hills of the High Atlas Mountains. The views are stunning: to the North extends a steep river valley, with sheer rocky limestone and forested mountains on either side, to the South the breathtaking snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains. Looking East across the river, is a traditional Berber village built into the side of the mountain. Within the protective walls of the Kasbah is a beautiful garden, containing specimen fruit trees, a collection of cacti and a rambling rose garden.
The building has been the completely restored but the décor combines traditional Moroccan colours, textures and patterns with a more contemporary treatment to the interior architecture. The contrast between old and new, bright and muted colours, craft and technology, provide a counterpoint that make the Kasbah Tamadot unique and stylish. History: The Kasbah Tamadot is the former home of Luciano Tempo (California-based antiques dealer) who furnished it with beautiful antiques, not just of Arabic origin but also from India and the Far East. In 1998 Richard Branson set off on a round the world balloon attempt from Marrakech, and it was during preparations for the launch that Richard's mother, Eve Branson, discovered the Kasbah and fell in love with it. | Kasbah Tamadot at a Glance | Sleeps: 40 Accommodation: 6 Superior Rooms 5 Junior Suites 6 Deluxe Suites (one with private plunge pool) The Studio Facilities/description: - indoor pool - hammam and Virgin Touch salon - outdoor heated pool with bar serving snacks - 2 tennis courts - a gift court - restaurant with terrace dining and fireside bar - rooftop bar with al fresco dining - private roof terrace dining for up to 8 people - gymnasium - guest salon/library |
