In the heart of one of the most lively medinas in Morocco, Riad Malika is hidden in the Bab Doukkala area of Marrakech, close to the Dar el Bacha, the palace of the Pasha Glaoui, and five minutes on foot from Jemaa el Fna square and the Souk…
The house is reached through a series of narrow bustling streets, the senses are overloaded with pungeant smells, the heat, dust and the noise of the crowded streets.
The contrast with the cool tranquillity of the Riad as the large wooden door closes behind you is legendary and time seems to stand still. Riad Malika is hidden in the Bab Doukkala area of Marrakech, close to the Dar el Bacha, the palace of the Pasha Glaoui, and five minutes on foot from the Souk.
The house is reached through a series of narrow bustling streets, the senses are overloaded with pungeant smells, the heat, dust and the noise of the crowded streets, all suddenly blotted out as the heavy wooden door closes behind you.
Unlike many Riads that have been quickly restored over the last few years, Riad Malika has been the home of Jean-Luc Lemée for some 35 years and he was amongst the first to open up his doors to the traveller. Jean-Luc is a passionate collector of antiques and a creative designer. Each corner of the Riad has developed organically and every piece of furniture has its place. The riad covers what were originally two properties allowing for a large pool and a several adjoining rooms. A mix of styles, blended perfectly together and a feeling that the Riad has been bedded down over the years give this riad a lot of charm and make it a home from home and a very relaxing and enjoyable place to stay.
