You only have to push open the heavy doors of Dar Doukkala to feel all the magic of this unique place where time stands still.

The Dar is reached through the narrow alleyways of the traders quarter of Bab Doukkala. The senses are overpowered by the rich perfumes of the market, the teaming street life, the laughter of children and the warm colours of Marrakech, the red town.

Once inside the Riad the world changes: Calm muffled sounds, balanced architectural forms, rich vegetation and luxurious and refined decoration. This Riad which has only six spacious rooms, numerous patios around a shady courtyard is a hidden treasure in the heart of the medina, near the "Dar Al Bacha" the palace of the great Pacha Glaoui.

Riad Dar Doukkala received its first guests only in October 2002 after four years of restoration. The transformation of the Riad has been made by the talented decorator Jean-Luc Lemée, also the owner of Riad Malika just a stone's throw away.
A perfectionist, he has paid attention to every detail and given each room its own character and style. His team of local craftsmen, have used only traditional materials and techniques, tadelakt on the walls, zelliges and moucharabieh… he also spent a lot of times nosing around the souk to find antique furniture, doors, works of art and other fine objects to fill the house.
